GroundGrabba - Different Types of Environment - Sand
When it comes to exploring the outdoors, camping in the wilds and spending time off the beaten path, there are multiple environments and ground substrates you can encounter - and understanding them is key to a successful trip full of good experience and memories. In this article we want to talk about the different types, what makes them special and how to deal with them.
Desert Ground Anchoring
Whenever you start to plan a trip to the desert there is a ton on your mind! You have to be prepared with enough water, food, appropriate clothing, necessary supplies and accessories for all potential situations. The desert is an unforgiving place and if you aren't prepared, things might go bad.
The combination of loose sand an high winds create a special kind of challenge that requires a special answer. With nothing to hold on to, traditional stakes can be plain impossible to use in these circumstances. And with the high winds carrying lots of sand you really need to be able to fully trust your tent and its seals.
GroundGrabba offers the perfect solution for this with the GroundGrabba Pro II. With an extra length of 24" and flights they bite deep into the sand and become just as stable as they would be in solid ground and offer anchors that are solid enough to hold even large tents in the fierce desert winds.
And while they are quick to be put in with your cordless drill, they are even quicker to take out and pack everything up. The days where pulling out your stakes is the worst and longest part of your trip are over.
And if you encounter hard desert ground and only have to install smaller tents or need a safe anchor for your dog or smaller things, then GroundGrabba Pro is the perfect tool for the job.
Beach Ground Anchoring
In many ways the beach is similar to the desert when it comes to the ground. The big difference being that in the desert you usually still find harder, compacted ground. On the beach it's all just loose sand. But the solution is just the same; GroundGrabba Pro II with 24" length and flights that turn it into a solid anchor that is capable of holding anything.
A tip that we like to share for a beach day is a super easy way to put up your umbrella at the beach. To get it really secure enough to not be blown away you usually have to dig a hole. Next time try drilling a GroundGrabba into the sand, then remove it and just push the shaft of the umbrella into the hole!
