Halo By Orthene has launched Halo GT, a DOT 4 racing brake fluid derived directly from the chemistry behind its flagship Halo P1. The new fluid is aimed at club and sprint racing, serious track-day use, fast road driving, and modern racing ABS systems. The 336°C dry boiling point clears the DOT 4 minimum of 230°C by a substantial margin and sits closer to the territory of fully synthetic racing fluids. The 1,350 cSt viscosity figure is the more operationally relevant number for shops outfitting ABS-equipped cars. Racing ABS solenoids are sensitive to high-viscosity fluid: if the fluid is too thick, valve cycling slows, and the system cannot modulate pressure fast enough to do its job. A low-viscosity DOT 4 that still delivers a high boiling point is a narrower product category than it sounds, and that is the gap Halo GT is designed to fill.

Maintaining DOT 4 compliance also matters for any car that operates on public roads between events. DOT 4 is backward-compatible with DOT 3 systems, and unlike some purely racing-use fluids, a DOT 4-rated product keeps you on the right side of street-legal requirements without requiring a separate fluid for road use.
