VP Racing Fuels

Early Years

In the early 1970s young Steve Burns laid the groundwork for VP Racing Fuels in San Antonio, Texas by testing fuel blends in his parents' garage. He taught himself chemistry and physics, seeking to improve horsepower beyond what was offered by existing fuels. His first product was the famous racing fuel "C12" which gained traction locally and lead to the official establishment of VP Racing Fuels in 1975.

Together with Buddy Morrison and David Reher Steve started to drive early testing for VP Racing Fuels. This collaboration spawned a whole cycle of innovation. Advancements in VP's fuel tech was made which in turn led to improvements in Reher-Morrison's engines and vice versa. Drag Racer Warren Johnson was VP's first paying customer and, together with Bob Glidden, significantly influenced R&D. Their successes helped to make VP's C12 one of the most renowned race fuels in motorsports.

VP Racing Ownership

In August of 2011, Alan Cerwick took charge of VP Racing Fuels Inc. and then bought a majority share of the company in 2014, acquiring complete ownership in 2016. To this day, Alan still serves as the company's president.

Prior to his work for VP Racing Fuels, Alan was Vice President of Wholesale Operations at Valero Energy and helped to launch the Valero brand in 2002. Before that he held key roles at Koch Industries.

VP Racing Growth

VP Racing Fuels has come a long way, from it's start with two employees in San Antonio to a business with over 300 employees and operating five distribution points in Texas, Indiana, Delaware and Tennessee plus an international office in Berlin. With this distribution network VP Racing Fuels ensures quick and reliable fuel delivery across North America to support a worldwide network of over 2,000 dealers. With over 80 fuel blends and a roster of well known champions, VP is known as a prominent world leader in race fuel technology, driven by a passionate team that is committed to keeping the top position. 

Over the last ten year with Alan Cerwich at the helm, VP Racing has introduced more than 100 new products, started a branded retail division and oversaw growth in more than 60 countries across the globe. Currently VP is being lead into unleaded aviation fuel where VP Racing is the only company accepted into the FAA's PAFI program.
