Evans Waterless Superlight Coolant: What It Means for Shops Stocking Evans in Bulk

Evans Cooling Systems announced the new Evans Waterless Superlight Coolant on August 5, 2026. Full technical details are available at Engine Builder Magazine.

What Evans Announced

Evans Cooling Systems has introduced the Evans Waterless Superlight Coolant, a lower-viscosity waterless formula aimed at modern engines with tighter coolant passages and higher-flow water pumps. The spec sheet is straightforward: atmospheric boiling point of 298°F, freeze point of -54°F, nitrite-free chemistry, and a lifetime-fill design. It ships in 1-gallon containers and is made in the USA.

The lower-viscosity angle is the meaningful change here. Evans' existing waterless coolants already eliminate the corrosion and vapor pressure problems that come with water-based formulas, but thicker waterless fluids have historically drawn criticism when applied to newer OEM cooling systems with smaller passages. Superlight is Evans' answer to that objection.

Why This Matters for Commercial Buyers

If you're stocking Evans for a fleet, race team, or performance shop, a few things are worth thinking through before you place your next order.

Expanded Application Range

The -54°F freeze point makes Superlight viable for cold-climate fleet operators who previously had reservations about waterless coolants in winter-service vehicles. Combined with the 298°F atmospheric boiling point (well above what water-based mixes can achieve before pressurization), this gives a single fluid a wider operating window than most conventional antifreeze formulations. For a shop that services vehicles across seasons or climates, that range reduces the number of SKUs you need to carry.

Compatibility with Modern Engines

Many late-model engines, including those with small-bore coolant galleries and electric auxiliary pumps, are sensitive to fluid viscosity. If customers have pushed back on waterless coolant recommendations for newer platforms, Superlight removes the most common technical objection. That's a useful conversation to have with fleet account customers who run mixed-age equipment.

Lifetime Fill Economics

Evans positions Superlight as a lifetime fill. For a shop doing the conversion properly (flush, prep fluid, then waterless coolant), the upfront cost per vehicle is higher than a conventional coolant change. The trade-off is eliminating recurring coolant service intervals, corrosion inhibitor top-offs, and the risk of water contamination degrading the mix over time. For a fleet operator with 20 or more vehicles, the labor savings on repeated coolant services can justify the conversion cost within a few years.

Nitrite-Free Formula

Nitrite-free matters for mixed-metal engines and certain aluminum components where nitrited coolants can contribute to liner pitting or seal degradation over time. Shops servicing diesel fleets with aluminum heads or newer gasoline engines should note this distinction when comparing Evans Superlight against nitrited fleet coolants.

Evans Products Available Now at Bulk55

While the Superlight SKU works through distribution channels, Bulk55 carries the Evans lineup you need to execute waterless conversions today, starting with the Evans Collectors Choice Waterless Engine Coolant (1 Gallon, case of 12). Cases are priced for shops and teams buying at volume, not retail single-jug quantities.

A complete Evans conversion requires three products in sequence:

  1. Cooling System Flush to remove water-based coolant residue and scale.
  2. Prep Fluid (EC42001) to displace residual water from passages before the waterless fill.
  3. Waterless Coolant as the final fill.

Skipping the prep step is where conversions go wrong. Residual water dilutes the waterless coolant and undermines the boiling point advantage. If you're spec'ing Evans for a fleet account, build all three products into the job quote.
